The ranch was established by a Mexican hunter and adventurer, Alejandro Guerrero, in 1845. He is recognized to be the civilizer of the district. He made a close friendship with the Caddo tribe, when they still lived on top of Buzzard Mountain (also later known as 'Caddo Mtn.') He married a young caddo woman, Onshi la Ohiti ke, who the daughter of the tribe's shaman, 'Flying With Eagles', in 1850. The shaman then placed a prosperity spell on the Ranch and its future and residents. As settlers came to the area, Alejandro acted as a speaker for the Caddoes to the newcomers. And much contributed to the peacefulness of the civilization of the District and the relationship and understanding between the natives and the settlers.
Later, after the war, a stranger came to the district, his name was Killbilly Norton, - a veteran, gunslinger and fortune seeker, who was looking for work.

Alejandro took him in and gave him work. Not long after did Alejandro make Killbilly his partner. Their friendship grew strong, and Killbilly took part of the planning of the Ranch and the shaping of the District. As Alejandro grew older and fell ill, Killbilly was the acting manager of the Ranch and quickly became a trusted authority of the District.
One frosty spring morning in 1869, Alejandro Guerrero died. His wife, Onshi la Ohiti ke left to rejoin with her people. And Killbilly Norton inherited the Ranch and its business. He added a 'N' to the Ranch's name, making it 'The Capital -N- Ranch.
In 1874 the ranch employs Steve 'Bronco Bill' Langton, Dusty Fog and Cajon Moon. Steve 'Bronco Bill' Langton being a solid ranch hand, also breaks the ranch's horses, he also has a small mining claim up in the Trail Creek Valley. Dusty Fog is a Texan war hero and often resides at the Capital -N-, he is regarded a citizen of the District although he spends most of his time on his uncles ranch outside Hondo, in west-central Texas. Cajun Moon is the ranch's stable manager and takes good care of all the ranch's stock.
